Provides a great deal of data in an easily consumable format and with the ability to export to excel which makes adding SEM data to our reports simple. SEMrush makes doing keyword, organic and competitor analysis lightning fast which reduces our time spent gathering data and gives us more time to work with the metrics and provide better strategies to our clients.
The only tool which hasn’t received much of an update is the SEO audit tool, but then again it wasn’t broken or lagging in the first place. So, despite it not receiving much love from the developers, it is still one of the best features. It is comprehensive, descriptive and useful even for someone who's taken on the gigantic job of doing their own SEO. It gives everyone a good overview of how well things are going.
Over the past few months, we have been receiving a lot of requests from people to review SEMrush. One big reason is that it is touted as one of the best SEO software out there especially when compared to competitors like Ahrefs and Majestic. Don’t take me wrong both Majestic and Ahrefs are great, too but SEMrush has its own set of unique strengths that when leveraged properly can yield excellent results in the form of favorable rankings. That’s why we’ve taken the time and put in a lot of effort to write this SEMrush Review.
Being able to see which keywords are driving to a specific domain is invaluable. Also having detailed keyword research with search volume and difficulty as well as recommendations makes it essentially a one-stop solution. Also, all of the new features that have been added over the years, the keyword magic tool and the disavow tool have been life savers.
SEMrush’s Marketing Calendar is a work in progress. It isn’t the most powerful tool which will make it worth a purchase yet. Though if you’re already part of the SEMrush ecosystem, this is free for you to use. But it is only useful if you’re managing multiple campaigns. Plus it falls short in the sense that it does not prompt you about approaching deadlines, and events which would be a useful feature in a future update.
Pavan, I would suggest you to give a try to it. Its a win-win situation for you as you will have free access to SEMrush pro version worth $47 for 14 days and you are not going to lose anything. If you like it, continue using it. With the kind of features SEMrush is offering, there is no alternative as such. With SEMrush, you can track 500 keywords with Pro version (price $99.95) and with Moz, you have to pay $99 for tracking 300 keywords only. So feature wise, SEMrush is much better than Moz or any other SEO/SEM tool available in the market.
SEMRush allows me to have a second opinion when it comes to SEO tools and techniques. It also provides a valuable keyword analysis tool. Additionally, it allows me to build links for local SEO which has been a huge help with local SEO link-building and monitoring. It allows me to monitor my back links in-depth to ensure that I don't have spammy or poor links connecting to my site, and to search for the best place to create new local links.
The feature also gives you information about whether the competition is using high-volume keywords or ones with a long-tail to get their ranking. Plus, another important thing the report provides is a look into if the competition is using branded ad copy or branded keywords for better conversions. You’ll also learn how long the competitions’ ads have been around which tells you exactly how successful a campaign was during the year, season or specific periods. All of this is information which can be used to boost your own campaign.
The errors in technical SEO are often not obvious, and therefore one of the most popular. Mistakes in robots.txt and 404 pages, pagination and canonical URLs, hreflang tags and 301 redirects, http vs https and www vs non www versions: each of them can seriously spoil all efforts to promote the site. One quality SEO website analysis is enough to solve all the main problems in this part forever.
Quick tip: While doing keyword research with SEMrush, do not select the keywords with search volume more than 1000 per month, as they require a lot of efforts to get required traffic for your site. Choose the keywords between 500 to 1000 per month search volume (or even below) so you can get top 3 or at least first page rankings even if you’ve a new website.
We consider the backlink checker the single most advantageous tool for anyone who wants to improve their backlinking strategy. It also helps you view sources of referral traffic so that you’re aware precisely as to where they are coming from. Not to mention the fact disavow traffic or backlinks from spammy websites. Speaking of spammy websites the backlink checker helps keep you up to date on the latest backlinks, and if you spot a series of links from bad sites, there is a good chance someone is running a malicious campaign against you. So, you have the opportunity to stop it before Google ends up sandboxing your website.
Guess I’ve overlooked more than a few things that SEMRush has to offer. I’ve used it here and there in the past, primarily for PPC projects for me or a client. Content marketing is more of a foundation than a tactic for me personally. Looking like SEMRush can make things easier for me in regards to content research/marketing. Good guide and insights Matthew. Work smarter, not harder, right…
This isn’t the only tool that mines Google Autocomplete. There’s also KeywordTool.io, but that restricts results to ~700 keywords. Infinite Suggest is another alternative. But, despite the name, it doesn’t seem to find anywhere near the number of keywords that Keyword Sh*tter finds. And there are tons of other Google Autocomplete miners, too. Google “google auto suggest tool” for more. There’s also this tool from SEOChat. It mines autocomplete suggestions from Google, Bing, Amazon, and YouTube.
The search console will list all of the links and also help you discover bad links, new ones, and compile a backlink sheet which you can then use to disavow all the backlinks you don’t want. Interestingly, the tool has automated that process as well by merely exporting the entire list directly to Google’s disavow tool with no edits or switching from the tool. The idea is to keep the backlink record clean.
Have you ever received a warning from Google Chrome to not visit a page? It will block the page and prevent you from going there because of some security issue.
